YEAH, I know it's the wrong color...
According to the book JOHN DEERE Limited-Production & Experimental Tractors, this is an experimental MI in August of 1947. Look at the clearance of the front axle...a little low!

Note:This is an interesting book, but it deals mostly with prototypes of agricultural tractors, not much industrial. This is about the only industrial picture I saw...but there was a good sketch of a "420IU" from July 1957.
