Model 840 Serial Numbers
This page will have a list of serial numbers that are contradictory to many of the lists on the net. All those lists that I have seen end at serial number 8400848. However; this is wrong, due to a set of faulty records at Deere. There are definitely tractors built after this. Check the Survivors list for some examples.

The below taken from the Ytmag John Deere Discussion Board:
The records for the 840 tractors are incomplete, so we do not know the serial number of the last 840 tractor, or if production went on into the 1962 model year. However, a Deere internal document states that as of June, 1962, the last 840 tractor was 8401200, which is plausible, since there are 840 tractors with serial numbers in the 1100 range, the highest known being 8401154.
