I bought this old 1949 JOhn Deere A. In Hornbeak, Ten. On August-21-02. The hood is in good shape, the grilles are good. I put a new carb on it. When I first got it home and changed the oil, about two gallons of water came out if it, then sludge, I washed it out 2 times with diesel. Rollo matic is broke, I'm gonna take that off and put on a standard front. It runs good, smokes some, could use head job, has high compression. Does not burn oil. I have replaced front tires. I will replace back tires latter. Starter is good, but starter ring needs to be turned. Gears good and tight. I have both lights, new seat. Everything I need for it has been ordered. As of now I use it to mow. I have to be careful though, it is very stought, it will tear a bushog apart. Talk to you latter, but for now I have to finish my 1937 A.

Here is the hood off of it. It has a good original hood patch around the exhaust.

Here are the grilles I have for it. Bought them for $30.00. Beat them out the best I could. They look better than what they look in the picture. THe ones that came with it were useless.

Here is the back of the 49. I have a plastic bag over my seat. Its missing one of the dummy plugs. I stuffed a paper towel in the hole. One day I just wanted to see if the powertrol worked, and it blew the towel out of it, spewing oil all over the place.

Its kinda late to tell yall now, but I just found out the 49 isn't a 49, its a 48. The owner before me told me wrong.
