Guys?
I hope everyone had a fine Christmas and is optimistically looking ahead to the New Year.
We asked this question a couple of years ago and, because it?s been awhile and because of all of the new ?faces? on the board, I thought it might be fun to try it again.
The question is, very simply, where do you live? No, don?t put your street address on the internet but if you could give your state and maybe the area within your state that you call home it makes it a bit easier to ?get to know? you. For instance, I live in the south-east part of Michigan?s lower peninsula in what we here call the ?thumb?. A quick look at a map explains the thumb designation. I?m 75 miles north of Detroit and 35 east of Saginaw. We do a lot of beans, sugar beats, beef and dairy with corn and grain to support the beef/dairy around here.
Alright, what about you? Where do YOU live?

Do I really have to answer this?????
Ha!
Originally from Ohio (NW of Dayton) and now and since 1994, Tallahassee, FL, just below Clyde Scott. If you visualize Florida being the numeral "7", we're on the side of the where the two lines connect. Tallahassee is the state capital and the home of Florida State University and Florida A&M University.

Putt Putt, this was a great idea. In reading the various entries, I?ve often wondered where the writers were located.
I live in Trenton, New Jersey.
My front lawn is about 50 by 25. That?s feet, not acres. At a yard sale , I bought a John Deere STX 38 lawn tractor. On a good day it takes me about 5 minutes to cut the lawn.
Going on the theory that bigger is better, on E-Bay I entered a bid for a 1948 A. never dreaming that mine would actually be the high bid. The good news was that I won. The bad news was that the tractor was in Oklahoma.
After talking to a couple of trucking companies, I realized that it was going to cost me three times what I paid for the tractor to get it home.
To make an extremely long story short, a friend ( you know you have a friend when they are ready to fly to Oklahoma to help you stuff a tractor in a U-haul truck) and I had the adventure of our lives getting the tractor home.
Just a postscript. The tractor actually ran in Oklahoma but so far in New Jersey it barely turns over. Possibly could be the toxic waste.
It?s snuggly under cover for the winter but expect a lot of questions come the spring.

This post wouldn't be any fun unless I stepped in it! Woodchuckville is actually a small (12acre) plot in the high tax section of Athens Twp. Bradford County Pa. I built on the backside of the farm I grew up on. Mom & Dad were my neighbors for years until they moved to the Tioga Point Cemetery (no tax section of town). I've been around Deeres for the majority of the past 43 years and have several in as many stages of runability sittin' around the "farm", wife, 2 teenagers (ours) and 3 dogs (you'd think I worked in a dogfood factory) oh yea, that's right I do (my real job)! In the other life I fabricate high end stainless steel exhaust parts for most all antique tractors and have been forced to expand ever further in to other custom fabricating areas. Un-intentional hobbies seem to be p--sing people off that wait too long for their stainless order (dogfood still pays the light bill) and generally rubbing people who "know everything" the wrong way. (no college degree so I don't know any better)

(haven't been taught what I'm "not capable of doing", so I just do it)

Otherwise on the rare occasion I do get to tinker a hobby, It's usually "defered" maintenance on one of my "toy" cars or trucks.

My tribe and I live in south west Missouri, North of Joplin, just outside of a little town called Purcell. This area is in between two rivers, with alot of really good farm land. Lots of soybeans, corn, wheat, and pasture. Lots of cattle. My place is a 5ac. of woods on a long lane that i cleared and tamed with my JD MT.
Still have to fence it and always cutting wood or some project. We have 5 kids, two grown, three at home.
My wife is my best freind and loves to get on the tractor. She helps work the place and is quite mechanicly inclined. I am a electronics tech at a local food manufacturing plant.

I have a 1953 model 70 gas that i bought when i retired no power srteering but i am getting stronger arms from running it though.I guess i should tell you that i am an inspector for deere so if you bought a grain drill, high cycle sprayer, cotten picker and it had something wrong with it is my fault. lol

I live in Porterfield, Wisconsin. about 60 miles north of Green Bay.
I live on a part, of the farm, that has been in our family since 1878, my Great, Great, Grandfather bought the place..
First John Deere on the farm was a 1951 B which my Dad bought new.
I remember the day we got it well, even though I was only 3 years old.
I have a
1939 B, flat spoke wheels, flat top fenders, round spoke front wheels.
1941 B, I think, hard to read the numbers.
1948 A,
3020 Diesel
I work in town, and farm, dairy, then beef for a while, now I just cash crop.
I enjoy using the two cylinders, if the job can be done with them,
I use them before the 3020.

Physical address is Midlothian Texas just south of Dallas, but actually a small community called Brittion that used to be all cotton, milo and wheat with some corn. Not much left of it now, only building standing is the old bank building and the community is surrounded by new housing developments and the farm land is all gone. I do still have the old home place that my grandfather purchased in the early 40s and pictures of his tractor repair shop that he had from 42 until the early 60s and of course farming while running his shop.
