you'll can beleieve this or not, but i have been working on a 25 hp kohler engine and couldn't get it to run right. i happened to look down at the plug wire and had my body where it was knocking the light off the wire and there was fire jumping from the plug wire to the rubber gas line hose. i told you'll this was deep and i'm telling you just like i saw it. i moved the hose out of the way and then it starrted jumping fire between the boot over the plug and the sheet metal around it. i've replaced the coil and still can't get it to run right. one of the coils had worked loose and was riding on the flywheel and had been running there so long it wore a grove in the maganet on the flywheel. going to replace the flywheel and go from there. it is an intermediate problem. it will run ok for a little while and then start back firing and missing real bad. acts like if i could adjust the carb it would straighten out. i've had the carb off and cleaned it and blew it out good, but am going to take it off again and soak it in cleaner. got to wait until kit gets here to try it though. you'll have a good 4th.

i solved part of the fire jumping puzzle. seems like the valve cover gasket is leaking right above the plug wire and the oil has soaked into the rubber hose. still a scarey feeling know fire was jumping into a gas line. wonder how many tractor, car, truck fires have started from this very same thing. y9ou would think that if the fire kept jumping at the same spot it would deteriate the line to where gas would start leaking out. doesn't that give you a good fuzzy feeling.

Does this have points & Condenser? If so change them out. Dad's JD 110 would do that would run fine for a while and then like crap. Change points & condenser and good to go!

hi, no points or condensor. just a wire running from the coil to the plug. it has to be set right for it to work, but my old one had slide down on the flywheel and made a mess on the magnet. i used a hand held die grinder to smooth it up with and used a business card for a gauge. runs perfect now. blew my mind until i figured out how a rubber hose could be grounded though. i don't mind fixing anything, but i've got to know how it works and why it tore up before i just put it back up and hope for the best. i can't sleep until i get the thing worked out in my head and then make itr work.
