Hi all. I moved from Mississippi back to So. Cal. 3 yrs. ago and while driving to the Saturday morning breakfast rendevous with the boys I happened upon this fine piece of machinery embedded in the landscape. The more I looked at it the more puzzled I became. Does anyone have an idea if this is a model produced in quantity or perhaps the product of a farmer/engineer in need of a "custom model". Note the wood tub in the operators area and the tongue attached to the front axle. I was also curious about the "dog leg" in the frame behind the front wheel. I live in San Dimas CA and this tractor is next door in the city of La Verne. This area was well known in the early 20th. century for citrus production - oranges, lemons, & the like. Today it is all people. Maybe this unit was specific to the citrus industry. Any comments are welcome.

It's an orchard sprayer. There are a couple of similar units down at the show in Vista Ca That show is coming up on the 20-21st and 27-28th of June, are you familiar with it ? I can post more info if you want. I'm not far from you on the 60 fwy in Rowland Hts , I just finished a '48 B..............

Thanks for the reply Dale. What's that old math principle - Ockham's Razor ? Your answer about the dog leg is painfully obvious. I was just thinking too hard about it. For those that might be worried that the old sprayer was lonely in the fencerow I took a picture of it's friend just a few feet away.

Enjoyed those pictures, JR. No problems with flat tires on either one! Did you happen to get the friend's name? I've not seen one of those either.

The friend is a Case - took a better look at it using the pic stored in my computer (used the magnifying glass - Case logo on the engine cowling ) and thats when I noticed a layer of green paint - not sure what thats about. I also noticed a cast or pot metal box between the fuel tank and the block. Curious if anyone out there can explain that.
