With the economy the way it is, I should not have been surprised. But I was!! ohmy.gif The company that hosted my web site went out of business. They closed it down without a note, email, or any notification. Which I think is pretty rude. What I've learned through this is that its not just the files on their computer that are lost, but also your Domain name. The Domain name is how everyone finds your site. I had chosen the name because it was very important to me. It reminded me of my father, mother and the family farm. Well, I jumped through some hoops and made calls and of course paid good money to reclaim the name. Now I've posted the site on a new host. In the process, all of the pictures I've post here on Johnny Popper will not show because the links are all wrong. Sorry about that. I'm just glad I had back up copies of all the files so I could rebuild most of it.

I've added the story and a picture gallery of the 1949 A restoration. So take a look if you are interested. laugh.gif

PS when I went to your web site my puter browser locks up showing a script error, I will try it again, looks like a fun site
Ravgardner
John T. Yes, I'll be displaying one maybe two of my tractors at the NY Expo. Bought a trailer to haul them last weekend. So I'm set. Just need to finish work on the 44 A. I'd like to bring the A and the H.

If you get the script error going to the web, share it with me. Try a different browser. Do you have Java script installed on you puter?

Rav

Rav, your web site is great. Thanks for the A photo's. Now you just need to add "work out" pictures of the A.

Thanks John,

That gives me something to work with. Please try other systems and browers. As yet, I haven't been able to duplicate your error. Now, I have a line number to look at and maybe find out what they mean by undefined? I'm not the expert in Java script, I'm hoping I can find some help. Is there a "Javapopper.com" site out there? laugh.gif

Site worked fine for me Rav. I feel your pain, my hosting service crashed my site, then went out of business before I could get their backups, and now I just can't find the energy to put anything back up on it. It's a lot of work to create and maintain even a rudimentary site, so I can't imagine handling one as extensive as yours.

Yo Ron,

PROBLEM UPDATE: Wellllllllllllllllllll I reinstalled the latest Java for XP (I have XP Service Pack 3 and alllllllllll updates) NO HELP

Next I installed IE 8 for XP,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,THAT HELPED SOME,,,,,,,,,,,,,,The site ran for a while and got the Script Error Message buttttttttttttttttttt you could click Yes or No to continue anyway and it ran okay again for a while then grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr the same script error (see post above) finally locks it up.

I have like aaaaaaallllllllllllllllllllllllllllll latest XP updates,,,,,,,,,The new IE 8,,,,,,,,,greast anti virus n spyware etc,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but those dern Script Errors are drivin me to drink, I get some script errors on other sites but the option of YES or NO and continue anyway, clears the erro flag n she run

Im lookin forward to perusing your site if I ever get the problem fixed.......Im afraid it may be related to my System Suite 8 angti virus program cuz I dont recall script error messages back when I was using CA Computer Associates e Trust anti virus

Any Geeks, Dweebes or Nerds out there got any suggestions?????????????????????? How bout you Frankster???

My top-notch technical team (daughter Anne - aka "Code Geek") says she sees a coding error that will report in IE7/8, but sometimes run, but in some other situations/browsers might just report an error and not open the page. Happens in Dreamweaver 6.0. Her explanation follows:

Compare the first highlighted section to the 2nd highlighted section. The “menuitem” is not defiend correctly—needs to replace ‘ (single quote) with “ (double quote) in the 2nd instance. That 2nd instance is on line 40 (though it might read as 48 depending oon teh browser) of the HTML. Now, once that’s fixed there could be something else… but that jumped out at me right away.

Go to the site, click open, then "View" and "Source" to see the code.

//menu methods
function ehandler(event,theobj){
for (var i=1; i<= theobj.numberofmenuitems; i++){
var shutdiv =eval( "menuitem"+i+".thediv");
shutdiv.style.visibility="hidden";
}
theobj.thediv.style.visibility="visible";
}

function closesubnav(event){
if ((event.clientY <48)||(event.clientY > 107)){
for (var i=1; i<= numofitems; i++){
var shutdiv =eval('menuitem'+i+'.thediv');
shutdiv.style.visibility='hidden';

WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW May I adopt Anne a day or two???

This is over my head, I can open n view source code on Rons initial page buttttttttttttttttt soon as I click enter n get to next page where error exists it locks up n I cant get to the code stuff

If it works for all else but me best to leave it alone anyway. I read the Microsoft Tips n did what they said but nuttin helps. It said it may be Java problem but I reinstalled it, then says it may be web developer problem, but finally it may be cuz of my anti virus so I guees I will give up but it looks the site would have been funnnnnnnnnn

I reckon life will still go on, I bet at my home desk top it will work

Well, this is a simple code fix for Ron, and if it is erroring for you, chances are good that it is erroring for others as well.

Yes, my Anne is pretty good on this stuff. She is my double major graduate "Computer Science/Software engineer". I had a problem out here and we gave her a call and she set two of NASA's crackjack IT guys straight real fast. They were impressed, but I told them don't feel too bad, because she has shamed smart people, too. HA!
Two-cyl in England.
Excellent site Ron.

It works fine in Safari browser on my mac.
Ravgardner
All I can say is WOOOOOOOOW! Your daughter Anne is amazing. I'll check the code out and make those changes and test it a bit. See its the same code I've been using since 2003 when I opened the site. Never had a problem before, but that is not a reason to fix some incorrect code. Give me time on my main computer.

This is great. I'm not a professional with these machines. But I do enjoy tinkering with them.

Thanks for help. Now lets see if it fixes the problem.

Rav
Ravgardner
John T. I fixed the code and uploaded the file. Try it out and let me know if it fixes the problem.
John T
Shucks, Still after I click on Enter (at gardengale intro page) and it goes to the first real page, I get Internet Explorer Script Error and thats AFTER Internet Explorer 8 and Java Updates were installed running XP SP 3 grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Remember the adage, It takes a human to make a mistake, but it takes a computer to reall*$&** up!!

I'll study the code some more. If Anne has more ideas. Send them on.

I'm just getting back online from this hotel, so I'll ask Annie to take a look and see if she shes anymore errors. Might just have to slog through them one code line at a time. Newer browser versions might be a problem. JohnT, I would disable you anti-virus program and tri it once. Could be that your AV software is reading a line that is similarly consturcted as some viruses and it can't pass it, so it locks up.
F-I-T
Rav:

FWIW, I heard back from Anne and she said that she opened the code up in her Dreamweaver, and she can see the deeper error. She said it looks like the author might have been copying some PHP code from here to there, so now there is a PHP script which is looking for 7 "menuitems" when there aren't any "menuitems" being used. I hope this makes sense to you..... blink.gif blink.gif

Then again, your site might just have an autmatic "Hossier Fuddy-Duddy" filter script running, so John T won't have a chance.
Ravgardner
FIT
The site is sort of like a quilt, made up of patches from several sources. If Anne is willing to point out the lines with the PHP code, give me some direction like delete these, I'd like to give it a try.

Rav
John T
I disabled my anti virus and STILL GOT THE SAME DERN SCRIPT ERROR and lock up. DONT WORRY NO MORE ON MY ACCOUNT, perhaps it will work when I get home on my Vista desktop, if it dont so be it lol

Thanks guys for trying

John T

Hey Rav:

Anne sent this:

If he can bear with me, and maybe give me a couple of days, I can clean up the template of his page and clear out those PHP errors. I’ve got some meetings today with session going… but should have some time tomorrow to work on it.

F-I-T
Apparently Anne is like her old man and could not resist the challenge, as she jumped in and has some modified code for you. Rav, send me an e-mail to frank@fboerger.com and I'll send you her code fix. She says she tested it in explorer and got no errors when she ran it, so it ought to be good to go.
Ravgardner
FIT and John T

The code corrections have been made and the new home page up-loaded.

Now the ultimate test must come from John T.

Can you get it to work now?

Rav wink.gif

As Colin Clive who portrayed Dr Frankenstein in the nineteen thirties black n white classic movie "Frankenstein" cried

John T:

You're probably a little late on adopting Anne, as she just got herself married off last December. She married another computer type, so you can imagine what their dinner conversations are like.

I passed on to Annie that everything was working for you now and she said:

Well that's good. Just tell them www.turtleme.com for all their website needs... hahahahahahahahahaha!

Always a comedian. That's her web site and hosting company.

Since she won't likely come around this board, I do have to brag on her a bit. When she was in junior high, she was mowing the grass with the 855, and got a flat in the right rear turf tire. Wasn't her fault as the tire had a slit in it and we had to fix the tube and reposition the boot from time to time because I wanted to get some use out of the tire before I replaced it (reads: F-I-T is cheap). She called me on the road and told me the tire was down, but if I didn't care, she wanted to try and take the wheel off and break down the tire as she had seen me do. I came home from the aiport on Friday night and she had that tractor parked out front so that I could see the tire was up. She broke a timing belt on her little college car, and I told her to get an estimate at a local place since I was mighty busy with other things, but when she found out how much it was going to cost, asked me if I would guide her, she wanted to try fixing it, and she did, so I gave her the difference above the parts as her earnings. She wanted a concrete floor in her tack room in the little barn we built, so she priced it all out and asked me if she would do the prep work, could we pour a floor, so during her freshman year of college spring break week, she dug the footer, formed the slab, graded out the base, raked out the Redi-mix, screeded the top, and then I showed her how to trowel it out and use the bull float. She shows every body today that her slab doesn't have any cracks, but the professional who did the Morton floor has a hairline crack in one area. I'm gonna let her do the patio next time.

She's the only one of my kids who will look at tractors with me, and she drives them pretty darn well. She digs fencepost holes, and scrapes and mows, but says my PTO chipper makes her nervous. Heck, it makes ME nervous! Neighbor came over a while back to see me, but when he saw her out with the horses asked if she could take a look at his new loader on his 790 and see if she could figure out what he was doing wrong to remount it. Took her a couple of minutes to see that he had not swung a clamp off to the side to clear the mount.

Anyway, good to hear all is well now with the site. Now if I would get off of my duff and re-write some things, maybe I'd have some content, too.
John T
Sounds like a great young lady Frank, a chip off the old block?? When my 2 sons were growing up at home I had them mow and as boys will be boys, all they cared about was getting it done n how fast. I swear they wouldnt get off the mower and would run over tires or spike tooth harrows or bolders or tree limbs anything, get the picture.........So the daughetr comes along of age to mow and when she mowed, she would stop n get off the mower to pick up a leaf or twig and if there was a blade of grass she missed she would go back and mow it over. We love them all of course each with their own talents but it seems those daughters are just wired different, maybe that old left brain right brain thing they talk about. Dont get me wrong, as Will Geer (Griz) said in the movie Jeremiah Johnson "I loves the women I truly do, Pilgrim" and to prove it I personally even married one of em, my own mother was one of em lol

Yall take care now
