I started driving the old A at age 4 and by age 7 I could start it and hook up a plow and be hard at work by the time dad got home from his day job.
I started working on my old John Deere tractors last year so I’m fairly new at this. So far I have worked on 4 tractors, 2-A’s a 60 and an MT. These tractors are family heirlooms, the 47A was bought by Grandpa for Great grandpa around 1958 with side mount cultivators and planters for $1,000, the MT followed the next year with cultivators and planters. The other A and 60 were purchased in the 1960’s. The first two were parked around 10 years ago and the last two were parked outside in the weather around 20 years ago and robbed for parts. I now have all 4 running and driving again!
Our “new” working tractors are the 4010 (bought in the late 80’s by dad to replace the 60) and the 4020 with a few other colors like red and blue and orange mixed in too. Dad just added a “new’ 3020D to the family last week.
It’s my goal to “fix” all of the stuff I can find down at the farm and get it all back in working condition, everything from tractors to combines, to horse drawn stuff.
I have lots of pics on my photobucket page for anyone who is interested. I set up a link in my signature below.
