instead of giving the banks and politicans all this money, give each tax payer in the us 200,000. that will be less than the amount proposed to be blown and stolen by congress and the president so the tax payer can go out and buy a new house and a new car and put the economy back on track over night. sounds ike a plan to me and i like it when a plan comes together. comments?
John T
Hey Im a conservative so I got nooooooooooooo problem with giving the money direct back to its rightful owners THATS US THE TAXPAYERS instead of the Government spending and re distributing it to who THEY please such as illegal aliens n loafers n slackers and that $4,000,000 to Acorn etc etc etc AND ALL THIS BIG SPENDING PACKAGE cuz as we all know once they start all these new entitlement handouts theres no way they will ever get cancelled grrrrrrrrr

Okay so whats the 800 or so billion divided by the population figure out to be???? I AGREE GIVE IT TO THE OWNERS US TAXPAYERS

But theres no way the politicians want us to decide, they want the power n the glory n votes from the recipients

Seems like were headed down the Socialist path with big government health care n social programs just like France NOW AINT THAT GRAND

Oh well, glad Im old n settled n dont have to worry as much but our kids n grandkids are gonna have to pay for all this

John T Old grouchy fuddy duddy Christian Conservative and white male, seems thats the lowest thing one can be nowadays as far as the Politically Correct Crowd and Hanoi Jane Fonda and Hollywood and the secular humanists n liberal progressives are concerned WELL THEY CAN KISS MY GRITS

Have a nice day n God Bless

Seems to me I heard back when the first 700 billion was proposed to be blown, that if the Gov were to bailout the taxpayers by dividing up that amount of money, for every US taxpayer age 18 and older each would receive $486,000. Now if they did that and taxed it at a rate of 25% wouldn't they immediately get back 175 billion or $121,500 per taxpayer? What would I do to stimulate the economy with $364,000 in my pocket....
Of course everyone would quit working for a living and payoff and kickback and buy all imported junk. In a few years we'd all be speaking foreign languages and not by our choice.
Wait isn't that what's going on now? mad.gif
The accuracy of this I can't verify, I heard this on a radio talk show so it must be true...right? laugh.gif

Fellers. my calculator ain't got enough zero's to even see what 800 billion look's like & I'm too dang lazy to go buy a poster board and do it the old fashioned way.

All that money spent trying to get our economy going again when plant's are closing at the rate flies breed and the Government is encouraging others to move to China is like p--ing in the wind. Sure, it will help out the freeloader's, but that ain't gonna fix anything. The only thing that's going to actually help is job's & the knowelege that you'll still have a job a year from now. If there is actually any money is this bill to fund so called infastructure job's, I'll guarantee you they will go to immigrant's & most will be illegal's. That's the way it has happened in our state for years.

I hope it work's, but my gut tells me the politicians are just buying votes & digging us in deeper. Course I'm like ole John T & ain't politicaly correct & my vote ain't for sale to the highest bidder so I reckon I don't have to worry about the government trying to give me any of this 800 billion.

Dang John T, you got me fired up again mentioning ole Hanoi Jane. I had pretty well gotten her situated way back there in the dusty files of my ancient brain when she reappeared again in the headlines.

Me seeing that piucture of her sitting behind that triple A gun and schmoozing with the enemy at the time when that stuff was going on and being there (in the South Part) just burnt and indellible and everlasting image in my mind.

About the econmy, it is kinda sad for me to sit here and think well i am to old to see this thing thru but my duaghters will definitely get a first hand/bird's eye view.

I sure hope that I am 100 per cent wrong.

I am heading for FL late next week since I got the brakes squared away on the camper yesterday. Gonna try to do a Cleandisk on my mind tongue.gif
John T
Dave, you gonna be at Florida Flywheelers (Feb 25 26 27) near Fort Meade when youre down here??? If so gimme a shout

The U.S. census Bureau currently estimates the U.S. population at about 305,000,000 (three hundred and five million.) Let's say for the heck of it that all people... babies and retired folks get a check. Call it 300 million to make it easy. The stimulus is supposed to be roughly 800,000,000,000 (eight hundred billion)

800,000,000,000 divided by 300,000,000 is the same thing as 8,000 divided by 3. You just take an equal number of the zeros off. That's 2,666 a head for everyone. So say there's only about half of the population working and paying taxes which should be lean and error to a best case for divvying up this magically appearing cabbage. That's 8,000 divided by 1.5 = 5,300 each taxpayer. So the amount for the U.S. to have magically appear to give every taxpayer 200,000 would be 1.5 x's 200,000 and then add eight zeros to the tail end of that or...
30,000,000,000,000 (30 trillion dollars) That's if half of the population qualify. Probably be a bit more than half and require more like 40 trillion...

On a lighter note... Did you hear the good news about all of the strongest of O'Bama supporters attending his inauguration? Only five of them needed to call off work!!

Slow down, Have any of you been to a big Gambling establisment. They take a cut of the money off the top.
That the way Gov't does it also with the Federal Gov't getting the biggest cut and then the home city of the president.
Living down state Illinois I'm told I will get $250 to pay my $650 increase in local taxes.
ryan_marine
You all forgot to add one tiny tid bit about the bail out for the tax payers. IF YOU MAKE MORE THAN $75,000, THEN YOU DON'T GET IT. Of course that figure is for central ohio. We will use the cost of living to adjust accordingly.

Here's another analogy of the stimulus bill that's been floating around...

Finally THE answer to the stimulus bill, and what it is about. Shortly after class, an economics student approaches his economics
professor and says, "I don't understand this stimulus bill. Can you
explain it to me?"

The professor replied, "I don't have any time to explain it at my
office, but if you come over to my house on Saturday and help me with my
weekend project, I'll be
glad to explain it to you." The student agreed.

At the agreed-upon time, the student showed up at the professor's
house. The professor stated that the weekend project involved his
backyard pool.

They both went out back to the pool, and the professor handed the
student a bucket. Demonstrating with his own bucket, the professor said,
"First, go over to the deep end, and fill your bucket with as much water
as you can." The student did as he was instructed.

The professor then continued, "Follow me over to the shallow end, and
then dump all the water from your bucket into it." The student was
naturally confused, but did
as he was told.

The professor then explained they were going to do this many more times,
and began walking back to the deep end of the pool.

The confused student asked, "Excuse me, but why are we doing this?"

The professor matter-of-factly stated that he was trying to make the
shallow end much deeper.

The student didn't think the economics professor was serious, but
figured that he would find out the real story soon enough.

However, after the 6th trip between the shallow end and the deep end,
the student began to become worried that his economics professor had
gone mad. The student finally replied, "All we're doing is wasting
valuable time and effort on unproductive pursuits. Even worse, when this
process is all over, everything will be at the same level it was before,
so all you'll really have accomplished is the destruction of what could
have been truly productive action!"

The professor put down his bucket and replied with a smile,
"Congratulations. You now understand the stimulus bill."

If the market has gutted your 401k retirement, then this tractor is for you. It's the perfect match. Great for today's investors.

Not a problem. Give me and the wife each our $5,300.00 share of the bailout. That's $10,600.00 for our household. We'd spend a little on the old homestead here and bank the rest of it. Between the taxes on the money and the money we'd put back into the economy would more than make it worth the government's effort to give it to me.

Not that I've got all that many people in around me that actually work for a living and/or pay taxes, but I can guarantee you that they would put all of it back into the economy. Mostly by way of buying cigarettes, alchohol, and lottery tickets. Now, I don't have anything against any of that stuff, but that's already what they're spending their public assistance checks on and it doesn't seem to be having much effect on the economy around these parts.

i have never done drugs, but the pain meds from the doctor. however, the guys that work for me, occasionally, have given me some new insight into the economy. it seems that the drug dealers are being hurt because they don't have the clients like they use to have. so to make more profit they are cutting the drugs so that the users are just barely getting enough to get high on. making the ingrediants that are used to make the drugs has helped a lot. i don't know about you'll but all i've seen the president do is blow hot air. he keeps making more and more of it each day, instead of fixing one problem and moving on he's over whelling the law makers with some many projects that they don't have time to concentrate on one problem and solving it and moving on. i think its so funny that all they do is say the economy is so bad and haven't said a word about why. its seems to me that the price of gas that went so high caused every body to stop doing anything but just dealing with the very basic needed to get by on. when people stopped buying anything but food and gas to get to work on that brought the economy to stand still. i really and truly hope i live long enough to see the heads of all the gas companies have to try to drink gas and eat oil to survive.

I have to disagree with yall. I don’t think everyone should get a check OR the government should spend it all. Did everyone pay in an equal amount? Forcibly taking from one person or group of people and giving it to another is STEALING! Our government has turned into a fancy speaking gang of thugs and common thieves. How can anyone justify taking money (taxes) from someone who has made a good life for himself and then giving that money to someone who hasn’t? So if the politicians did decide to divide it up and give us all a lump sum then we would be no better than anyone who receives stolen property. (However, even though wrong and immoral, that method would work far better that what they are actually doing).

Punish the well doers and reward the slackers, why can’t everyone see where that kinda thinking will lead?

The solution is very simple, get rid of ALL taxes except a max 10% sales tax and force government to shrink to the point where they can balance their budget on that amount. This will effectively end all government social experimenting and manipulation and put the country back into the people’s hands where it belongs.

I say down with taxes or down with the government, the politicians will have to choose!

johns48b
hi frog, still trying to find a week end to come see you. my i dea behind the funds being given to the tax payers was just to keep the politicians from giving it to each other and under the table deals. giving it to those who don't pay very much in taxes would at least get the money into circulation real quick, as what i underatand, needs to happen. i'd trust the american public to do more with the money quicker than i would the government. this is evident from the first monies congress and the president gave out and nobody knows where it went and nobody is being held accountable. so if its going to be wasted one way or the other and not be fair to everybody i'd at least like to see the money in my hands and not some politicans pockets. what the gas companies and the crooked politicans forget is that unless they save the usa there want be any where for them to spend their money, no matter how much you have. if you've driven the american farmer out of the business then what are you going to eat. you sure can't eat money and wash it down with high priced gas and live. personally i'd like to see a politican have to come knocking on my door with a million dollars in his hand and try to buy some food from me that i raised in my garden. then who would have the last laugh. greed has put blinders on politicans and woe be unto us. if the price of gas goes back up then you better have a fortess to live in and somebody guarding every thing you on day and night.

Hey John, let me know if you hear about any local shows coming up, I'm itching to start going to them. And next week is spring break for the kids and I plan to take them to the farm to play at least one or two days. Let me know if you want to come play too.
johns48b
frog, thanks for invite. the first show that i know of is the jd days show at the jd dealer in snead. its the first week end in april. our club, the southland flywheelers (look up our web site for list of local shows), is putting on a display for all the second graders in the city of huntsville that friday before the sneed show on sat. i plan to go to the show on fri and then leave and go to snead. i'll be there with a big covered trailer with displays set up inside. look me up if your there. i probably want get out on the road if its raining or going to be a miserable day, like some in the past. the show at albertville is becoming the biggest show around here. its being pushed by the city and put on by the same guy who puts the snead show on, laverine. county as they come, but one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. he's been a jd mechanic for years and can set you straight on any problems you have.
alabamafrog
Snead is about 45 miles from me in almost a straight line, how many folks will be there and what kinda show is it? If its big enough I might load a couple my babies up and come down.
I’ll also have to check into that Albertville show too.
I definitely want to get into the Decatur one this year at the Balloon festival.
Maybe with the bad economy more folks will start coming to cheap entertainment like tractor shows.
