Group,

I use this mower to do my trimming usually when I cut with my 46B and landpride mower but I just had back surgery and the wife will not get on the B so she has been cutting the whole yard with this mower ( about 4 1/2 hours worth) About the time you are getting done the auto engage for the mower kicks out and will not restart until it cools off. Is there something I can adjust or is this a safety factor? Any help would be appreciated!

This will be a pain in the back, Sam, but if you have an inspection mirror, you can look first to see which clutch is used on your mower. The Warner type will have 3 (possibly 4) lock nuts with springs under them for adjusting the air gap to the rotor. This one is usually painted black, and sorta triangular in shape. Three or four slots around the perimeter for slipping the feeler gauge in (.013/.015" should do it). A lot of rechecking and readjusting to get it parallel is normal.

If it has a "Mag Clutch" brand, it is not adjustable. This one is usually painted light brown or goldish color. It is round with one lug sticking out, and no visible way to disassemble, or adjust it. This is the type that is on my STX46. Just run them till they quit. Could probably get pictures of each if it would help.

Good luck, and hope your back heals soon!
