So I've just pulled a '39 BO out of a guys shed surrounded by blackberries, and getting ready to tear into it for a total resto. It hasn't been touched since the 70's but the guy said he went out occasionally and turned the flywheel to keep it from siezing so it still turns. smile.gif It doesn't have the fenders and has a big hole in the radiator but the rest of sheet metal looks good.
I've never done a B before (only an A) are there any areas i should look out for or pay particular attention to with this model?
Thanks, Greg

Two-cyl in England.
Looks a good find Greg smile.gif

and it is an early one ( smaller engine with no decompression cocks).

The B engine has steel pushrod tubes that rot and let coolant in, the A doesn't.

Actually, this does have compression reliefs - notice to the right of the spark plug. So it doesn't have the 4.25x5.25 (149 CID) it has the 4.5x5.25 (I think its 175 CID). But I'll be sure to replace the sleeves smile.gif smile.gif Thanks!

Well, it's been quite awhile since my last post.... but after tearing much down; engine, tranny, frame, wheels and current problem was to get out tranny shafts and gears. Have 3 gears that are beat up and looking for replacements. A friend came over last weekend and we were able to get idler shaft as well as countershaft out - this is where the 3 broken gears reside. That turned out to be a big deal to get the shafts out - had to beat the heck out the bearing to get it off - then moved gears a little and shazam - the whole countershaft assy came out the top! So now it's off to a buddy in my club to poke through his boneyard for the gears. Then the transmission will be back in shape and off to the engine.

Wishing you luck with that transmission work!!

I haven't touched a BO, but I have had to fight the bearings in my 80, so I understand your pain!

Hope you can find the gears fairly easy!
