I've been trolling the forum for a few weeks and decided I should really make an account. A little background on myself:
I'm 22 years old, engaged to the love of my life. I'm currently finishing up a degree in New Media at the University of Maine. I am an avid cyclist, mostly mountain biking but also some road trips (normally between 5-15 miles). I work on my own vehicles (cars, truck, snowmobiles) and I've always loved tractors
My grandfather has recently decided to give me his 1954 John Deere 40. He is the second owner and bought it around 1960. He used it from that point until 1969 as his main farm tractor for his dairy farm. After that it was used around the yard to clean up snow, mill some wood and haul trailers around. It sat from the early 1980s until the mid to late 1990s when my uncle borrowed it long term for his wood lot (okay'ed by grampa at the time). He used it until 4 years ago. It's been sitting in the woods since then. My uncle no longer needs it, and when he found out I wanted to have it to restore it and use it for moving snow, hauling wood and powering a pto generator when the power is out, he thought it'd be a great idea for me to have it, grampa agreed. So, now it's basically mine. I do need to sign some papers to make it official, and it won't be moving off my uncle's property until I get a house (hopefully this coming summer).
So, that's the story, I can't wait to work on the tractor, but I really won't get a chance to until at least spring time.
