A member has written to me, telling me that we have the stats wrong on the Model B. He says that the BO and BR were produced from 1935 to 1947 and the BI from 1936 to 1941. Can anyone add a confirmation to this info, so we can get the correct dates posted?

I'd love to comment, but I'm the one who originally coded the stats as found on this site. Of course they're right just as they are! wink.gif laugh.gif

Actually, it was a long time ago (about 10 years) when I coded the stats files. Since then I have amassed many more reference books that I could theoretically refer to. But, I'm working in SE Montana right now, and my books are back home in NC. I could call my wife and ask her to do the research, but anybody care to guess how she'd respond?

If nobody else will comment, I'll check when I get home in a few weeks.

Byron,
According to J.R. Hobbs nice book on the unstyled series, the first BR (325000) rolled off the line September 24, 1935, and the first BO was 325084, which would have been in late September, as 95 BR's and 10 BO's were produced in that month, according to the Production Log provided by Two Cylinder. Again from Hobbs, the last BR (337514) came off the line January 16, 1947, and also the last BO (53 BR's and 128 BO's were produced that January).

From Hobbs, the first BI was built February 4, 1936 and the last BI was built February 25, 1941.

So, your member's note was correct.

I'd like to see A LOT redone on those pages. Many of the statistics are incorrect and it would be nice to see pictures of member's tractors wherever possible.

Ok, this is a good opportunity. smile.gif Let's open this thread up to any and all corrections to the stats that might be needed. A good suggestion has been made, that we get verification of the source of any new info, since there are some books, even some from respected sources, that are incorrect.

Members' tractors need to be given a place, too. The "Tractor of the Month" has been kinda stagnant, and besides that, a bigger gallery would be nice. Suggestions?

Byron, let's start with my favorite model, the "H". The Stats page shows the weight as 3035 LB, which is wrong. The correct shipping weight advertised by Deere in the early advertising brochures is 2063 LB. The rest of the statistics are close enough to count. (The length was actually advertised as 111-1/4 inches, not 111.3 as shown in the stats, but who's gonna complain about that tiny discrepancy?)

Where did the 3035 LB come from? Well, that value can be traced to Nebraska Tractor Test #312 for the "H", which reflected a test weight of 3035 LB, but this had to include a number of wheel weights to ballast the tractor down for the drawbar pull test.

ohmy.gif I have looked at the stats on the 630 and the one thing I noticed was that the ending s/n listed is 6317201. Mine goes quite a ways past that at 6317859. I'm just curious as to what the last s/n really was. Thanks!!
1946A
I would think that serial no. 7859 would come before 17201. That is 6307859 and 6317201.

Mudhole,
I show 6317201 was built in Feb. 1960, 6317859 was Mar. 1960, and the last one built was 6318206 in Apr. 1960.

CLW;

Hey, thanks for that info. Looks like I came close to gettin one of the last ones. Just received J.R.Hobbs latest book on the 630's and he also states that the last one was 6318206.

There has been some debate on the issue of what is the first year for the BR while they did begin production in late 1935 they were actualy considered 1936 model tractors.
