I know that a 955 really isn't a garden tractor however I am looking for information on one. It has 1600hrs on it and it is 4x4 and has a bell mount mower and a quck tach loader. Are these units any good? What is the longevety and at 1600hrs is there still alot of life left in her. Would it handle a 5foot bush hog in a little hilly terain? Are these good tractor? It looks to be around the same era as my 332. Are they known to have any particular problem? What is a fair price for one in good shape?Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Not really sure about the price, it depends a lot on condition, location, and attachments. We have a 950 JD 4x4 which is basically exactly the same, just a little older. It always starts, we've used it from raking hay to plowing snow. Good dependable tractor that's very handy to have around. I've never had any problems with ours, the loader and mower make it very versatile, and it could handle a 5ft bushhog. Overall, it's a great tractor i would trust anywhere. I would go for it. cool.gif

I worked for a Deere dealer that sold an 855 with loader and cozy cab, 4wd, for 8500. The machine had less than 2000 hours on it. A local golf course had an 850 that was used 40+ hours per week, towing a 7 gang fairway mower. The last I saw the hours were over 10,000. Yes this unit you are looking at has a lot of life left, but make sure you do the recommended maintainence. Hilly areas should be no problem for you. I like the quick attach loaders, makes the machine more versatile.
