Hi Neighbors!
My name is Curtis Mosley. I had been looking for a good John Deere discussion board for a long time when my son pointed this one out to me. I reviewed it and decided to join.
John Deere green has been in my blood for many years and it has now infected my whole family, especially my grandson. When my father moved the family to Louisiana from New Mexico in 1944. he bought a 1937 John Deere Model A from a plantation that used it for cultivating cotton. They were selling the Model A's and buying G's for the bigger capacity. Although other John Deere tractors were purchased over the years, this tractor was the primary tractor until the 1960's. When new generation tractors (Models 2040 and 2240) were purchased the Model A was relegated to light duty and finally retired in the early 1970's. It sat in the barn until 1999 when my son suggested that he and I restore it and bring it up to the DFW area of Texas, where now live, and use it as a show tractor. I jumped at the chance both because it was an opportunity to work with my son and my interest in farming the way it used to be done. I left the farm after high school and have been a city boy until we restored this tractor. We joined a tractor club, my son is now president, and regularly attend shows and enter parades. It is a real joy to participate in this hobby with my son and meet all the wonderful people at the shows and parades.
My son, Brian, is currently restoring a Model 40T and will be in need of parts and much advice before the task is completed.
I sure we will be seeking parts and advice on this forum often in the future and I am looking forward to interacting with you.
