Have slant -dash A s/n#548184w/Delco1108914starter. Parts book shows this as direct drive unit,this thing is modified to gear reduction;armature shaft is cut, pinionslid over spline,annulas gear and shaft to drve and nose over pinion.Overhauled engine 12 yrs ago, has M&w pistons. Insight would be appreciated! Thanks.

M&W made gear reduction starter kits to go along with thier high compression piston kits.
