Hello and thank you for having me, I am exstatic to have found the "Rummy's" page site.
I have taken nostalgic looks back at Johnny poppers here on the internet in the past but......ahhh huh "the magic of Christmas" is talked about. Today Christmas day I decided to type in johnny poppers instead of "John Deere tracktors" and Rummy's page came along. I saw the the "player" feature on the page and clicked it....SO wonderful to hear a "popper" starting again!!
This little technical question please: I have heard the SOUND of a six VOLT starting system in cars. They sound like they wont make it. The John Deere starter always seems to have a laboring sluggish sound BUT THE JOHN DEERE DOES use a 12 volt system??
TO BE INTRODUCED FINALLY I regretfully live in central N.J. where farms are being gobbled up for developments as you watch and weep. Ahhhhhhh the happy blessing: my Mothers 5 brothers were all and each dairy farm laborers AND the farms all originated in the 1800s so there was THAT blessing also. Two of the brothers two of my Uncles were close enough that they owned and ran their own farm and always ran "poppers"!! Mother would drive my Brother Sister and I up there to upstate new York for visits. I cant speak for my brother or sister but I LOVED WAKING in the morning to a "popper" being started..................and I recall I'd get dressed and out the door that fast........................well usually i guess............Since the other Uncles were hired hands on other farms we went to the one owned by my Uncles most often for the freedom. On the other farms we had to stay close to the house. I bet I could ride/drive a "popper" all day everyday and tire of it!!!
Ahhhhh one Summer, late 1960s my two Uncles had..............THE CLASSIC MY FAVORITE TRACTOR.........they got themselvers set up with a model "R"!! I certainly recall I CERTAINLY recall waking up to the sound of THAT beast starting, the windows of the house rattling!!! I ran out to that!!! I am 50 yrs as of june this year, the last of the brothers (my last Uncle) passed away January this 2006 at age 90 retired in florida. One heart other heartbreak i have is that i never thought to buy MY OWN "popper" to store at my Uncles farm FOR ME to drive as they didnt want us Jersey kids driving them! A proof read shows how much i wrote Just to get introduced. This has been plugged up in me for a LONG time!!! THANK YOU PLEASE SHARE AND REPLY!!!
