I WAS IN MY LOCAL DEERE DEALER A FEW DAYS AGO WAITING IN LINE AT THE PARTS COUNTER WHEN I HAPPEND TO OVERHEAR AN OLD GENTLEMAN WITH A 140 TRACTOR LOOKING FOR A SET OF BRAKE PADS (NOT SHOES). THE PARTS GUY SAID NO LONGER AVAILABLE. POKED FUN AT THE AGE OF HIS TRACTOR AND MADE NO OTHER ATTEMPT TO HELP. OUR DEALERSHIP HAS A HISTORY OF THIS TYPE OF TREATMENT. WHAT I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE KNOWS A SOURCE FOR THESE PADS? I THINK I CAN TRACK THIS GENTLEMAN DOWN TO FOWARD ANY INFORMATION FOR HIS HELP THANKS.

Hi there! I would recommend you try www.weekendfreedommachines.com for advise on finding those pads. Lots of fellows on that forum own 140's and hopefully one will have a source for him. Some of those members also visit this site and may give you a quick answer as well.
I believe the early 140 had disk brakes, later hydro was drum brake.
Good luck and thanks for thinking of the other fellow. He will appreciate you trying to help.
Should have done this before first posting. Looked those things up, and found that they do call them shoes instead of pads. They are listed as NLA, but my local dealer has a price but (0) stock - AM31350 shoe @ $47.96 ea. - AM31997 shoe @ $60.31 ea. (prices may vary by dealer).
They might find some old stock by doing a dealer search, if he wants to put that many $$$ into them. Think I'd try to find some small auto pads of similar size, drill out rivets, and re-rivet to 140 plates. Few extra holes won't hurt.
