Hi,
My name is Brenda and I am interested in selling my father's john deere. It is a 50 series that needs work. I have the original owner's manual. I do not have a clue as to what I am doing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am located in south Louisiana.

Hi Brenda,
Do you have any photos of the tractor? You say it "needs work", what type of work do you think it needs?

ARICAB, I am going out on a limb here and guess it is not a diesel. Hope you are close enough to help her.

There is no such thing as a 50 diesel. Only the 70 and the 80 were available as a diesel. The 50 is either gas, lp or all-fuel.

Okay guys, it could be a 750, 850, or 950, too. She did say "-50 series".
Brenda, if you would like to e-mail a photo to me at frank@fboerger.com, I would be happy to post it here for you.

CLW I did not take exception to your remark. It is O.k. 1946A's remarks is typical of the smart mouthing you get if you try and help someone and you are not a member of a certain in crowd. After the electrical receptical discussion and one of the in crowd covering up another of the in crowd's erroneous bs advise I just stopped trying to help people.
Several examples. Sitting on the ground is a complete set of front end weights for a 40 with attaching hardware and I have the parts manual showing the whole nine yards.
Sitting on my shelf are my 4 manuals on my 70.
My M manuals are on the way.
Hence forth let folks get their answers and help from inspectors, engineers and other intelligent people.
