Full Version: Suggestion For The Boards

I'm thinking it may be a good idea to "pin" permanently a post at the top of each forum, that has an explaination that this board now requires registration to post. And the reasons why.

It may confuse some of those who don't visit very often, or first time visitors.

Maybe also an explaination in the same message that no one can see your email address, unless you wish, and other privacy concerns.

Anyone have any other possible concerns that could be addressed in a message I describe?

Sounds like a good idea. Either this is working or you guys popping off much more than before. It has been a couple of days since I have seen anythying.

I think the registration process is working. The first step in preventing getting your truck stolen is taking out the keys, is it not?
You'll likely see most if not all the regulars return in time. And there won't likely be all the sniping and cheap shots as long as it's in the back of everyone's head that somebody knows exactly who they are.
What rattled a lot of people was that Byron was forced to act so fast on this to bring things back under control.
I've only had to pick off one spam in the past few days and that was from a newly registered member and late at night. Byron twisted the screws a little tighter to prevent this from happening again. So it looks as though thing are on the right track now. I'm seeing the board working more like it did in the past.

I took Brandon's advice, and put up a notice about registration procedures.

So far, it looks like things have improved a lot. The new registration deal is blocking the vast majority of the spam, and blocking all the anonymous bomb-throwers. There still may be a few trolls who registered prior to the new restrictions, but they will be dealt with. smile.gif

As I said in the pinned notice, anyone with any sort of problems with registration can feel free to e-mail me for assistance.
