I have a chance to buy a 430 diesel with a 60in deck and a 2stage snow thrower(2 augers) It has 600 hrs on it and is in good shape. Is the 430 a good machine or would I be better off with a newer gas model like a 455 or 425? This thing looks pritty big. Will it be hard on fuel? I would appreciate your opion as the owner says it will go fast.

I have been looking at a 430 also. It has 60" deck and a 54" blade and no chains for it, new front tires and has 1880 hours on it. I am was looking for something with power steering as I am not as young as I used to be. It is proably at the stage it will need this and that replaced, but would 3500 be to much for it?

If a 430 has been maintained at all during it's 1800 hours and it comes with a 54" blade, it should bring at least $3500. I still see 430s bringing as much as $5,000 in our area. Still a fairly sought after machine and a bit of a workhorse.

Thanks for the info guys, I think I have heard the yanmar diesel is also a good engine
I will look into it more after this week.
My youngest stepdaughter is getting married this Friday in our back yard, and I have been
working on the yard for several months. Also it was an excuse for my wife to get a gazebo. ohmy.gif
